It’s quite nice around here – we’re on a small site that’s bounded on one side by the Flesk Water, a little river where buglife such as dragonflies, mayflies and damsel flies thrive, and by hedgerows and green fields on all the others. The river is shaded by mature trees—see how many fish you can spot darting about under the surface, or if you’re lucky a kingfisher flitting from the bank. In a quiet moment, you can close your eyes and just listen to ceol éan agus uisce – the music of birds and water.
There’s plenty of other birdlife to look at and listen to—blackbirds and finches, warblers and blackcaps, blue tits, wrens, robins and many more. Herons occasionally stalk the river bank, swifts perform their aerial acrobatics, while from time to time buzzards circle patiently above. There’s something special about this place—we like it here and we reckon you will too.

How to get here?
Flesk Water Camping is an ideal location from which to base yourself for exploring the Glens of Antrim and the Causeway Coast, and especially if you fancy hopping across the Straits of Moyle to the Mull of Kintyre on the Ballycastle to Campbelltown ferry.
It’s easy to get here using public transport or under your own steam. Bus no. 131 from Ballymena Bus Centre takes approximately 45 minutes and runs from 07.30 to 17.45. Travelling by car from Belfast takes approximately 45 minutes along the M2 – A26 – A44.
