The Rhythm of the Bann festival will take place this April on the 26th and 27th in multiple venues throughout Coleraine.

Musical theatre, gospel, jazz, choral, anthems and hymns, blues, swing and hip hop! Just like the river itself, the Rhythm of the Bann is a blend of movement, music, patterns, flows and phrasing.

On Saturday evening, The Showman Is Coming! THE Northern Ireland born but internationally renowned Peter Corry will lead a cast of dynamic dancers, singers and talented performers. The Showman Is Coming combines the passion of Moulin Rouge, the spectacle of Barnum and the energy of The Greatest Showman, all under one roof at the Lodge Hotel.

This show involves some adaptation from the original, to reflect the venue size and restrictions, including where appropriate, reduced acrobatics and aerial work.

On Friday evening, St Malachy's Church will be home to three wonderful choirs; Cantemus, Adoro and Dalriada Chamber Choir. Adoro has performed at many prestigious events in Northern Ireland including services of thanksgiving for HM The Queen Diamond Jubilee and 90th Birthday. Cantemus sing a mixture of ancient & modern repertoire - anything from Bach to Stopford; Wesley to Parry! The Dalriada Chamber Choir voices blend beautifully to deliver chilling harmonies, rousing emotions and tapping toes. An evening to celebrate choral singing by 3 leading choirs with 3 distinctive styles.

Their cross community membership comes from all walks of life. The one thing we share is a love of choral church music. Anthems, psalms, hymns, versicles & responses. They sing ancient & modern repertoire - anything from Bach to Stopford; Wesley to Parry!

Our Musical Director is Tony Morrison. He brings a wealth of experience, charisma and dynamism to our singing. Tony is also the organist and choirmaster of St Patrick's Church in Coleraine. He also directs the Let's Sing Gospel choir.

Adoro has performed at many prestigious events in NI including services of thanksgiving for HM The Queen Diamond Jubilee and 90th Birthday. They have performed in Waterfront Hall, City Hall, Grand Opera House and Hillsborough Castle to name but a few.

Adoro was formed by their director, Ashley Fulton, in 2008. They are a group of his most talented vocal students. Although the line up has changed over the years the core principles of quality, professionalism and excellence are always maintained.

Dalriada Chamber Choir are one of the leading school choirs in Northern Ireland. The students in it combine a high standard of singing with a passion and enjoyment of music.

Coleraine is proud to welcome Ian Weinberger who is currently the Associate Music Director of the smash hit musical Hamilton on Broadway. His other Broadway conducting credits include Kinky Boots and Titanic (Lincoln Center).

This is an incredible chance to work with someone who is at the pinnacle of their musical genre. Ians experience will be invaluable to any singers wanting to improve their technique and pick up tips from the best. If you enjoy singing, this is the opportunity to learn from someone passionate about music.

"In this workshop, we'll learn the Broadway ensemble and chorus singing to a couple of the integral musical numbers of HAMILTON. We'll talk about why the ensemble plays such a big role, and how the musical detail supports the storytelling throughout - and what kinds of musical specifics we ask for in the Broadway production."

Ashley Fulton Musical Workshops

Originally from Magherafelt, Ashley is one of the top vocal coaches in the UK. His pupils took the top 3 places in the National Performing Arts Competition in London's West End to find the best theatre performer in the UK. His students have won the Andrew Lloyd Webber Scholarship, appeared on BBC television's "I'd Do Anything" and "Over The Rainbow".

Many of his past pupils have gone on to appear in West End productions.

His students continue to obtain the highest UK results in LCM Music Theatre and Singing exams and diplomas. He has successfully entered over 2000 students in graded exams (90% with distinction) and over 375 for diplomas. Ashley has, to date, had 70 students go onto study at Drama School.

In his 3 relaxed workshops he will work on singing both for choral and solo voices and with his older workshops he will talk about the Alexander technique.

"The main thing with singing is that you enjoy it". Ashley says "No two voices are the same, we should all feel free to use our unique gift".
