About

Causeway Craft Trail members showcase at Bushmills Visitor Information Centre

August is Craft Month, and to celebrate, Visit Causeway Coast and Glens will be hosting demonstrations by some of the wonderful makers and creators from the Causeway Craft Trail at the Visitor Information Centre in Bushmills later this summer!

The Causeway Craft Trail is an exciting tourism route for visitors to explore, taking you off the beaten path and into some of the hidden gems of this beautiful region. Along the trail, you can visit artists and craftspeople in the places that inspire them while observing them at work, or learn a new skill by taking part in one of their creative workshops.

Dates and times of these exclusive Causeway Craft Trail demonstrations at Bushmills Visitor Information Centre this August are as follows:

Monday 5th August 10:30am - 3pm

Patricia Millar Ceramic Studio

Patricia Millar will demonstrate throwing on a potter's wheel and how to prepare pots for pit firing- an ancient technique that she uses at her studio near the Giant's Causeway.
Examples of her pit-fired pots will be on display.

Tuesday 13th August 10:30am - 3 pm

The Blackheath Pottery Demo

Babs Belshaw is a local artist from Coleraine, operating from Blackheath Pottery and specialising in porcelain tableware, bringing a touch of elegance to a humble cup of tea.

Babs will demonstrate making delicate functional tableware on the potter's wheel.

Monday 26th August 10:30am – 3pm

Eleanor-Jane McCartney - Glass Artist - Fused Glass and Tiffany Glass

Join Eleanor-Jane who will demonstrate Tiffany style glass making - a technique featured on Sky Arts 'Painting Birds' Series 2, where she taught Jim (Vic Reeves) and Nancy Moir how to make a Tiffany glass puffin, which they now hang in their home. Eleanor-Jane holds workshops in The Boat House Gallery, beside The Giant's Causeway, if you'd like to try this technique yourself after watching her demonstration.
