The coastal cliff path from Portballintrae to Ballintoy is a well-known iconic and dramatic cliff and beach walk. It encompasses mythology, world-class geology, marine biology, Mesolithic civilisation, broader European politics (Spanish Armada) and contemporary social & economic histories. These intertwining narratives make for an engaging walk with great variety and several iconic places to break along the coastline.
The route is suitable to moderately fit walkers and above who want a longer walk totalling 16km of up to 5hrs.
Accompanied children over 10 years can be accommodated however the distance of the walk should be noted by parents.
Public parking is available at Portballintrae Salmon Rock Car Park. Transport via Minibus will be provided as part of the Festival from the walk end back to registration.
Waterproofs are required and hiking boots or sturdy footwear recommended.
No dogs allowed.
