This EHOD come and visit the beautifully restored and extended (Grade B1 listed) Courthouse Shared Space Creative Hub - poised to become a premier destination on the North Coast for arts, crafts, heritage, tourism, and culinary experiences.
Built by the Macnaghten family of Dundarave Estate in c.1834, the building served as a Petty Session Court until c.1938, after which, it was occupied as a private residence. Vacant since 1972, it was placed on the At Risk Register in 2004.
Enterprise Causeway acquired the property in 2016, through the financial support of the European Union's PEACE IV Programme, which is managed by the Special EU Programmes Body.
The project involved both the capital build works, as well as an extensive community outreach programme, involving nearly 4,000 individuals.
The building is set to open in the summer of 2024, so this is the ideal opportunity to see what's on offer, including:
- A curated retail outlet
- An artisan cafe
- Event, exhibition and workshop space (including a purpose-built Demo Kitchen and Food Demo bar)
- 13 studio lets, for creatives/makers.
The versatile space offers a mixture of heritage and creativity, with an exciting future ahead of it for endless collaborations and growth for Bushmills, and the Causeway area.
