Ocho Tapas Bistro is the brainchild of Sean and Trudy Brolly who both grew up in the heart of Portrush.

Trudy the Owner/Chef, responsible for the beautifully plated sensational food, was trained at the Catering College in Portrush. After working locally for a period of time Trudy moved to Spain where she lived for over twenty years and fell in love with the Spanish Cuisine. Trudy decided to return to her roots and bring her love of Spanish food back with her to the Causeway Coast. Sean and Trudy travelled to the Salamanca Region of Spain to source their cured hams and chorizo and participated in courses on preparing, slicing and presenting the ham. To complement their delicious food they have done extensive research in wines travelling to Rioja, Ribera del Duero and Albarino Regions so they could supply the perfect match for each dish. As Sherry is the perfect pairing for Tapas, Trudy and Sean also travelled to the Cadiz-Jerez Region of Spain known as the ‘Sherry Triangle’. This is evident in their Pintxos (small tapas) Platter. Ocho Tapas specialises in Modern Tapas inspired by their love of food and seasonal produce. They go to great lengths to source quality local products such as Kettyle Beef and Ballinteer Quail Farm produce. Of course being located in a fishing resort, fresh fish – the catch of the day, is then turned into a flavoursome daily special which is full of freshness and also packs a punch.

Ocho Tapas Bistro is a relatively new restaurant in the area and has already made its presence known. It has won a few awards and has been featured twice in ‘Yes Chef’ Magazine – with one of its dishes features on the front cover.

The Mantra of Ocho Tapas is ‘Sharing is Caring’ and this is exactly what Tapas is about, sharing small plates of food in a relaxed environment. It is a wonderful way to sample a variety of foods and have as much or a little as you like of each dish.
