About

Ready to discover a hidden world?

Dive into the mysterious world of marine creatures, and join our Nature Engagement Officer, Dr Cliff Henry, on an insightful rockpooling session in the bays of Port Ganny, running as part of our Summer of Play activities, sponsored by Starling Bank.

Delve into the rockpools and discover some of the wonderful creatures who call the Giant's Causeway their home.

This rockpooling session will commence at 2:00pm. Meet Dr Cliff within the exhibition and interpretation area of the Visitor Centre and head to Port Ganny via the Blue Trail.

National Trust Members and Local Pass Holders gain free access. Online booking is strongly recommended via our website. This is a free event; normal admission charges apply.

Ticket price includes the full Visitor Experience; access to guided tours with our award-winning storytelling team, use of hand-held audio guides, access to exhibition and interpretation areas, shop, café, use of all facilities and reserved onsite parking.

Please wear outdoor clothing suitable to the weather on the day and sturdy walking shoes/footwear for clambering over rocks. Participants will need to be accompanied by an adult.

Rockpooling will take place in Port Ganny, off the Blue Trail. Please be aware that a bus also travels this route; pedestrians must stay on the path when the bus is in operation. The Blue Trail also has some steep inclines. Participants will need to clamber over rocks to use nets in the rockpools, however, wildlife can be viewed in basins on the footpath if requested. A limited number of nets will be provided, however, if you have your own, feel free to bring it with you!

A fun-filled family adventure not to be missed before Summer draws to a close!
