Do I need a ticket to attend?

No tickets are required, and we urge you to spread out over the parade routes.

Where are the parking facilities?

Due to high levels of traffic making its way to the Christmas events, expect delays. Please adhere to any traffic management signs you see on your approach to the town.  

Ballymoney - All available town centre car parks will be open with part of Castle Street and Seymour Street Car Parks being closed to facilitate acts. Also, additional parking will be available at Dalriada School. Disabled parking will be at Townhead Street car park. Normal parking charges apply for all car parks.

Limavady - All available town centre car parks are open.

Ballycastle - All available town centre car parks are open except the Diamond.

Coleraine - Coleraine Town Centre pedestrian zone will be closed to vehicular traffic from 5pm. Parking will be available at the usual car parks in the town including Abbey St, The Mall and Waterside. Disabled Parking will be in the usual disabled parking bays in Coleraine.

Normal car parking charges apply for all town centre car parks.

Where are the toilet facilities?

Ballymoney – Townhead Street (beside Town Hall) and Castle Street

Limavady – Roe Valley Arts Centre, Catherine Street

Ballycastle – Market Street, just off the Diamond (20p payable) and Quay Road Playing Fields (free)

Coleraine – Town centre toilets, Diamond Centre

What disabled facilities are available?

Ballymoney – Accessoloo in Castlecroft Square

Limavady- Disabled facilities in the Roe Valley Arts Centre

Ballycastle- Accessoloo at The Diamond.

Coleraine – Accessoloo at Queen Street

What time does the event start?

Ballymoney – Entertainment in town from 2pm with Santa’s Christmas Parade departing Megaw Park approx. 6.45pm

Limavady – Entertainment in the town from 1pm with Santa’s Christmas Cavalcade departing Limavady High School approx.  5pm

Ballycastle – Entertainment in the town from 6pm with Santa’s Christmas Cavalcade departing Quay Road Playing Fields approx. 6.45pm

Coleraine – Entertainment in the town from 4pm with Santa’s Christmas Cavalcade departing Leisure Centre approx. 6.45pm and finishing at 8.30pm. Santa’s Grotto will run from 7.15pm to 8.30pm.

The main parade will leave Coleraine Leisure Centre, Railway Road at 6.45pm, along Railway Rd, Kingsgate Street, Church Street, The Diamond, Church St, Kingsgate St, Railway Rd (against the flow of traffic) to Coleraine Leisure Centre. The parade will stop at the Diamond for a few minutes while Santa switches on the Christmas Tree Lights. Santa's Grotto will be located on New Row opposite Moore’s.

Will children be able to visit Santa’s grotto?

Santa is very glad to welcome children to his grotto this year!

Ballymoney – From 7pm in Church Street

Limavady – From 2pm in Drumceatt Square

Ballycastle – From 7pm in the Co-op Car Park in the Diamond

Coleraine – From 7pm in New Row (opposite Moore’s). 

Santa’s Grotto will run from 7.15pm to 8.30pm on New Row. Santa will leave the parade at Kingsgate St / Long Commons and a vehicle will take him to New Row.

Is there a Quiet Time?

Ballymoney – 3-5pm in the Town Hall

Limavady – 10.30am – 12.30pm in Roe Valley Arts Centre

Ballycastle – 3-5pm in Sheskburn House

Coleraine – 3-5pm in the Town Hall

Quiet Time can be booked by emailing events@causewaycoastandglens.gov.uk

Are there other Christmas events?

Yes, there are a wide range of Community based Christmas Events, which are organised by external voluntary organisations, supported by the Council’s Festive Fund. We’re proud to support our local community and voluntary organisations to bring Christmas Festivities to the local towns, villages and hamlets throughout the Borough. Dates and times of all Community Switch On and Christmas events are listed in the section above.

Wrap up warm, arrive early and support the local retailers this festive season!
