The 153rd Open will be held at Royal Portrush Golf Club from Sunday, July 13th to Sunday, July 20th, 2025. Here’s an overview of what you need to know about parking, traffic, and travel during the event:
Parking
• No parking at the venue
There will be no public parking available at Royal Portrush or its immediate surroundings.
• Park & Ride facilities
Spectators can use managed Park & Ride sites. Charges apply, and tickets can be booked online on The Open's website.
• Accessible parking
Spaces for accessible parking can be booked by contacting the R&A. To be eligible for free parking at the event, an Accessible Parking Permit such as a Blue Badge or equivalent must be provided in advance as evidence. To apply for accessible parking at The Open, please email accessibility@randa.org. Please note the deadline for pre-booking accessible parking is 27 June 2025.
Traffic
• Temporary restrictions
To manage traffic and reduce congestion, temporary regulations and parking restrictions will be enforced by the Police Service of Northern Ireland.
• Follow signage
Drivers are advised to turn off satellite navigation systems and follow clearly marked routes.
Travel Options
• Public transport
Enhanced bus, coach, and train services will be available. Early morning and late evening trains will run between Belfast, Coleraine, and Portrush. Explore the Translink website for more information.
• Active travel
Walking or cycling is encouraged for those staying locally.
• Bicycle parking
A bicycle park will be available near the main entrance of Royal Portrush Golf Club.
• Special coaches
Day-return coaches will operate between Belfast Grand Central Station and Portrush. Explore the Translink website for more information.
Getting to Portrush, Northern Ireland
By Car
From the South East (Belfast): Travel on the M2 towards Antrim, then take the A26 to Ballymena. Continue on the M2/A26 towards Coleraine and Portrush, then follow signs for The Open Park & Ride.
From the North West (Derry~Londonderry): Travel along the A2 towards Limavady, take the A37, then continue down the A29 toward Coleraine and Portrush. Keep an eye out for signs leading you to The Open Park & Ride.
From the South (Armagh/Mid Ulster): Follow the A29 towards Coleraine and Portrush. When you approach Coleraine, follow signs for The Open Park & Ride.
From the North East (Ballycastle): Take the scenic route along the A2 from Ballycastle to Bushmills, then carry on along the A2 toward Portrush. Look for signs pointing to The Open Park & Ride.
By Air

- Royal Portrush Golf Club is only 52 miles (83 km) away from Larne Port.

If you’re thinking of arriving via Portrush Harbour, check with the Harbour Office first. From there, the easiest way to reach The Open is on foot.
