About

The untamed lava-hewn crags and cliffs of Binevenagh on the Causeway Coast and Glens offers a unique and world-renowned landscape that’s simply perfect for visitors to enjoy a tailored range of exploration and adventure that will combine scaling the spectacular summit of Binevenagh and learning the ancient craft of Felting.

Get those boots on, take a deep breath and venture into the unknown as you experience the beautiful Binevenagh mountain from a slightly off-the-beaten-track perspective with the ‘Needles & Tread on the Causeway Coast’ day package. This unique adventure will start at the family owned farm at the foothills of Binevenagh. There you will be met by owner and host, Heather, where you will be treated to a famous Causeway Coast and Glens welcome and a freshly baked scone as the perfect accompaniment to your warming cup of tea or coffee.

With laughs and craic aplenty, you stop off at a local farm to fill your water bottles with fresh water from a natural mountain spring, before embarking on hike along the majestic trails to the summit of Binevenagh with renowned local guide, Heather, who will offer tales of myths and legends that this fabulous mountain has to offer along the way.

Before reaching the summit, you will walk past a famous ‘Game of Thrones’ filming location and as you reach the top of Binevenagh you will be greeted by an amazing, once in a lifetime welcome that will never be forgotten. The summit of Binevenagh, where rare alpine birds soar over forested slopes, affords visitors panoramic views stretching beyond the golden sands of Benone Strand over Lough Foyle, the Roe Valley, Inishowen and to the west coast of Scotland - a new horizon you haven’t yet glimpsed that will rival anything on the Planet!

Before descending from the summit, you will enjoy a cup of creamy, delicious hot chocolate supplied by a local artisan chocolatier. Returning to the family owner traditional farmyard, you will get the chance to warm and recharge your body with a hearty meal of homemade Irish stew, warm apple tart with a dollop of custard, as your host helps you to quickly feel warm, happy and well rested.

The panoramic views of Binevenagh with its endless sweeping beaches to the looming headlands winding far into the misty distances will have offered picturesque references for you to bring to life as you immerse yourself in the ancient art of felting. Local textile artist, Yolande, will offer expert guidance in helping you turn a multitude of colourful hand-dyed wool fibre into your very own personalised art that will truly encapsulate your ‘Needles & Tread on the Causeway Coast’ experience. This is a truly immersive experience that will allow you to venture off the beaten track in world-renowned landscape in search for new horizons.
