About

This Moderate walk is an 8km exploration of Banagher Glen on hilly trails and minor roads. It will explore the relationship between early pre-christian and and christian traditions as a basis for understanding Irish myths and legends and their meaning. This walk will begin at Banagher old Church and lead to Altnaheglish and back through the native woodlands of the Glen. The importance of water in the modern-day as well as in traditional communities will also feature as a theme.

Walkers should have a reasonably good level of fitness and come equipped with rainwear, robust footwear, sufficient water, packed lunch and a hot drink and note that the ascent to Altnaheglish is via a steep track. Tea and coffee and refreshments will be served in An Glór afterwards.
