Get ready for an incredible month of exciting events taking place across the Causeway Coast and Glens this May! Here’s a few highlights of what’s to come this month:
Cushendun Big Arts Weekend
3-6 May
We get off to an a-MAY-zing start with Cushendun’s very special Big Arts Weekend, which will feature four days of music, drama, poetry, art, walks, workshops and family fun in one of the most beautiful villages in the Glens of Antrim.
Antrim County Fleadh
10-12 May
The Antrim Fleadh kicks off in Dunloy, just outside Ballymoney, following 2018’s success in Rasharkin. Antrim hosts a number of competitions, concerts and open bar sessions. This child and family friendly event is open to the public and visitors and locals can expect to be spoilt by Irish traditional music events which are rich in authentic Irish culture
International North West 200
11-18 May
The beautiful Causeway Coast plays host to one motorcycling’s most spectacular events. The International North West 200 road races celebrate their 90th anniversary in 2019. So many great races and racers have graced the closed roads circuit linking the towns of Portrush, Portstewart and Coleraine since the first event on April 20, 1929.
Rathlin Sound Maritime Festival
24 May – 2 June
This fantastic annual event is an exciting celebration of rich local maritime history, culture, music, crafts and food on the landscapes and waters between Ballycastle and Rathlin Island ⚓️ Perfect for a few family days out!
Portrush Raft Race Weekend
25-26 May
Large crowds of spectators gather to watch as ‘home-made’ rafts race from the West Strand beach to the finishing line at the harbour. The main event is supported by many other side attractions, including the Junior Raft Race at 10.00am and speciality stalls throughout the day. Come along, bring the family and support Portrush Lifeboats.
