Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council has confirmed that its events programme has been cancelled until September 2020.

Council members agreed this position following a meeting on Tuesday 5th May 2020.

The decision affects all events due to take place in May, June, July and August including Rhythm of the Bann in Coleraine, Rathlin Sound Maritime Festival, Bushmills Salmon and Whiskey Festival, Summer Street Theatre in Portstewart and Portrush along with the Ould Lammas Fair in Ballycastle.

The Mayor of Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council Councillor Sean Bateson said: “Public health and safety is of paramount importance at this time and for this reason we have taken the difficult decision to cancel all Council events up until the end of September in light of the COVID-19 pandemic. We are committed to re-establishing our events programme as soon as it is safe to do so, but for now we must to do all we can to contain the spread of coronavirus.

“I want to thank the public for their ongoing understanding during these unprecedented times, and I would urge everyone to continue following the ongoing guidance around social distancing and essential travel.”

Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council will continue to review this situation.
