Galgorm Collection has unveiled the latest phase of its ambitious £20m transformation programme for Roe Valley Resort in Limavady, announcing a series of new and significant developments for the landmark North West destination.
Galgorm Collection acquired Roe Valley Resort in November 2024 as part of a landmark £50 million investment which also included Galgorm Castle Estate, alongside a wider multi-million-pound commitment to enhance both properties over the coming years.
The hospitality group is now introducing a series of new accommodation, leisure and family-focused experiences across the estate. The latest additions build on significant investment already delivered, including a Helter Skelter, adventure playground, arcade, and new Italian dining restaurant, Fratelli.
Among the suite of new additions launching this summer, Galgorm Collection is introducing Mussenden Lodge, a new £1 million standalone accommodation offering located approximately seven miles from Roe Valley Resort. The four-bedroom property, with stunning views over Lough Foyle and Binevenagh, will accommodate up to eight guests and provide a premium, private retreat option within the wider Roe Valley experience, complete with an outdoor hot tub and complimentary access to the resort’s swimming pool.
A range of new family and leisure experiences will also launch this summer, including pool slides opening on 12 June. Roe Valley Resort is opening a dedicated two-storey soft play area, and The Leaping Hound, a new bar and dining concept inspired by local folklore and the legendary ‘Dog’s Leap’, from which Limavady takes its name, featuring live weekend entertainment and designed to create a vibrant social space for guests, locals and visitors alike. Both the soft play and The Leaping Hound bar will open on 03 July.
The latest developments mark the latest phase of Roe Valley Resort’s wider transformation programme under Galgorm Collection ownership, with further major enhancements planned over the coming years. The next stage of works will include the upgrading of the resort’s lobby and reception area, due for completion by Christmas 2026, followed by the launch of a new indoor and outdoor adult spa experience in spring 2027. Looking ahead to 2028, Galgorm Collection also plans to unveil new conference and event spaces as part of its continued investment in strengthening Roe Valley Resort’s appeal across both the leisure and corporate markets.
Colin Johnston, Chief Executive Officer, Galgorm Collection, said:
“Since acquiring Roe Valley Resort, we have been focused on delivering a thoughtful and ambitious transformation that builds on the property’s strong foundations while introducing new experiences for both existing and new audiences.
“We have been delighted with the feedback from guests to date and are pleased to have welcomed visitors from across the island of Ireland, Great Britain and further afield.
“This latest phase of investment reflects our continued commitment not only to Roe Valley Resort, but to the wider North West region as a whole. We see enormous potential in this part of Northern Ireland, from its natural beauty and heritage to its growing reputation as a world-class tourism and golfing destination, and we are proud to play a role in helping to elevate that offering.”
Together, the new developments mark the latest milestone in Galgorm Collection’s wider strategy to enhance Roe Valley Resort as one of Northern Ireland’s leading hospitality destinations.
The transformation programme forms part of Galgorm Collection’s broader investment across the North West, including plans for a new championship links golf course at Bellarena, further strengthening the North West’s position within Northern Ireland’s globally recognised golf offering and the region’s growing appeal to golf tourism.
Laura McCorry, Chief Executive of Tourism NI, said:
“Tourism Northern Ireland remains committed to supporting the continued growth of tourism across the North West, which continues to attract visitors through its outstanding natural landscapes, heritage experiences, and world class golf offering.
“It is extremely encouraging to see continued investment from Galgorm Collection as a major hospitality investor in the region.
“Alongside the international spotlight brought by events such as The Open Championship, Northern Ireland continues to build its reputation as a premium leisure and golf destination, and investments of this scale play an important role in supporting that ambition.”
As work continues at pace, Roe Valley Resort is rapidly emerging as a key pillar in Galgorm Collection’s strategy to expand its footprint and strengthen Northern Ireland’s position as a must-visit destination for domestic and international travellers.
