About
The Boathouse Gallery is a fascinating spot to visit at Innisfree Farm, a mere stone's throw from the world-famous Giant's Causeway. The gallery is so named because it is home to one of the most famous traditional racing Drontheim fishing boats of the region, 'The Arrow', which hangs in the ceiling of the premises.
The gallery is also home to five creative makers, EJ McCartney, who works in glass; ceramicist Malcolm Murchison; Emer Dixon, who works in silver and gold; paint and pastel artists Jim Allen and Louisa Kelly who works in cloth felt.
Visitors can meet the artists and see them at work and discover the unique background stories associated with their art.
The group have been awarded funding from the Bank of Ireland via the Together Arts Fund in partnership with Business to Arts for a piece of public art at the Giant's Causeway and will soon be completing the collaborative benchmark project, a creative response to the COVID pandemic and a poignant way of acknowledging the impact of the past 18 months. The stunning massive pieces of driftwood forming the benches, situated in the natural environment, are a lasting tribute created by these artists.
