About

Portrush Music Society is delighted to present Calendar Girls: The Musical in November 2026, bringing this much loved story of friendship, courage and community to Portrush Town Hall. Based on the acclaimed film and inspired by a remarkable true story, Calendar Girls: The Musical follows a group of ordinary women from a small Yorkshire community who come together to create an extraordinary fundraising calendar. When Annie's husband John dies from leukaemia, her friends rally around her, and an idea for raising money for a local hospital quickly takes an unexpected and very public turn. With music and lyrics by Gary Barlow and Tim Firth, the musical combines warmth, wit and heartfelt emotion. As the women overcome their initial reservations and take part in an unconventional calendar photoshoot, their friendship is tested, strengthened and celebrated. Along the way, the story explores love, loss, friendship, ageing and the importance of coming together to support one another. Packed with memorable songs, lively characters and plenty of humour, Calendar Girls: The Musical offers audiences an entertaining and uplifting evening, while also reminding you of the extraordinary things that can happen when a community pulls together. Following recent success with Come From Away, My Fair Lady, Beauty and the Beast, and The Phantom of the Opera, Portrush Music Society is proud to bring this popular musical to local audiences once again and to celebrate the spirit of friendship and generosity at the heart of the story.

Join the Portrush Music Society from the 24th to 28th November 2026 for an evening of laughter, music and emotion, as their talented cast bring this inspiring story to life on stage.
