About

Explore Castlerock beach with Sarah, using mixed-media sketching and mark-making to capturing the sights, sounds, and atmosphere in your sketchbook. Over the following three weeks in the studio, use your sketches, photos, and collected observations to create larger, layered landscape paintings in mixed media, developing your ideas into finished, expressive artworks.

For the outdoor workshop:

Please bring a sketchbook/a dozen sheets of paper, acrylics/watercolours (ideally a travel box), pens, chalks, pencils, favourite brushes - whatever you like to paint with. Drawing boards and extra brushes will be provided. Masking tape, kitchen roll and water pots will also be available. Please wear clothing and footwear suitable for beach walking and painting, whatever the weather. Meet at the picnic benches beside the public toilets, at the promenade.

For the studio workshops: 

Please bring your sketchbook/artwork created at the beach visit, along with a sketchbook/some paper approximately A3 size, at least 250gsm paper A set of acrylic paints and a selection of brushes, Canvas boards or canvases of various sizes; no larger than A3, four in total, (these can be bought from The Works, Amazon, or The Range) Desktop easels are provided for the indoor workshops.
