About

Delightfully restored cottage 5 minutes’ walk from a stunning blue flag beach, 5 miles from Coleraine, within comfortable distance of other coastal resorts like Portrush, Portstewart, Portballintrae & near many local coastal walks, beaches, world renowned golf courses & majestic Mussenden Temple.

Part of a terrace known locally as the “Twelve Apostles”, steeped in rich local history. Small property but lovingly renovated to utilise every inch of space whilst retaining its rustic charm!

Ideal for golfers, situated a ten minute walk from the amazing Castlerock Links: Awarded Ireland's "Hidden Gem" for Links Golf on the North Coast and lying within the world famous North Antrim Golfing Triangle, making it the perfect base from which to play Royal Portrush, and Portstewart Golf Courses too.

As one of the locally known 'Twelve Apostles' our recently restored rustic cottage, built in 1882 by Sir Henry Harvey Bruce sits in an elevated position in the beautiful seaside village of Castlerock with a sea view. Five minute walk from a blue flag beach, local cafes, and village pub.

Turn left out of the cottage door and within 20 minutes you'll be looking at the breath-taking National Trust Site, Mussenden Temple, perched on the cliff edge.

Downhill Demense, Benone Strand and Binevenagh Mountain are all on your doorstep, making this a mecca for walkers, cyclists, swimmers and surfers alike.

If travelling by car, explore the world famous Causeway Coast: 20 minutes to Portstewart, 25 minutes to Portrush and 30 minutes to the Giant’s Causeway.

If you prefer a different mode of transport Castlerock Train Station, only a 5 minute walk away is located on the Belfast/ Derry train line and we can highly recommend hopping on this to Londonderry as it takes the prize as most scenic train route of Ireland, described by travel writer Michael Palin as “one of the most beautiful rail journeys in the world”.

The cottage features King Bedroom with separate bathroom with over bath shower (always hot water available for showers however bath operates using immersion heater for hot water)
Underfloor Heating & logburner in Lounge. Well equipped galley kitchen with grill, hob, oven, microwave, dishwasher, fridge. Freezer, Washing Machine & Tumble dryer in outhouse.
Undercover al fresco dining room (please note this area is not heated so it can be nippy but space is at a premium and it is the only dining table we can fit in the property). There is also a leaf table in the lounge that can be put up and eaten at if preferred.
Ample free car parking to front of property.

Decking to the rear with covered outdoor seating and BBQ area with a hot tub available throughout August for additonal charge)

Secure surfboard, wetsuit, bike storage
Access is via a wall mounted key pad beside the main front door in the porch allowing flexible access to the accommodation.

Other things to note; Your welcome come will include a bottle of something lovely chilling in the fridge, hundreds of books on the book shelves, a lovely Woodburner with a basket full of firewood and lots of board games. There is no TV at Tilly’s cottage so bring your own devices but you may not need them!

Please note that due to very steep original stairs this property is not suitable for small children or anyone with mobility/walking difficulties.

Extensive and sympathetic restoration of the building has been undertaken since our purchase of it in 2018, using original building materials such as lime plaster and a breathable limecrete floor. We’re proud that it “represents the best-preserved example on the terrace” according to The Historic Building listing on the Department for Communities website, retaining many key original historic features, including original fenestration, front door & much internal joinery. It is very cherished!
