Father’s Day 2019 is 16 June! What better way to treat him than to take him out for a delicious meal (and maybe a few whiskeys) in Northern Ireland’s stunning Causeway Coast and Glens? Whether you’re visiting for the weekend or on a staycation, or even if you live within the borough itself, there’s plenty of options to choose from! In no particular order, here's just a few (and remember - there's lot's more!):

1. The Coach House at Roe Park Resort, Limavady

Overlooking its own stunning 18 hole parkland golf course and set amidst the gorgeous surroundings of the Roe Valley Country Park, this 4 star luxury hotel boasts a choice of two quality restaurants. With an extensive menu on offer throughout the day, The Coach House Brasserie is the perfect location for a spot of lunch or casual evening meal. Perfect after a round of golf!

2. The Cellar, Ballycastle

Stepping into the restaurant away from the hustle and bustle of the shoppers and traffic above, the ambience is peaceful and calm. Church pews with cushioned seating flank either side of the wooden tables while a low hanging light casts light and creates the perfect setting. Stone washed walls and a layered slate fireplace surrounding the black stove make this Ballycastle restaurant cosy and inviting.

3. Ocho Tapas, Portrush

The Mantra of Ocho Tapas is ‘Sharing is Caring’ and this is exactly what Tapas is about - sharing small plates of food in a relaxed environment. It is a wonderful way to sample a variety of foods and have as much or as little as you like of each dish. Being located in a prime fishing resort, the catch of the day is turned into a flavoursome daily special which is always full of freshness!

4. Tartine at The Distillers Arms, Bushmills

The Distillers Arms was originally the home to the local Distillery owners, spending some years as a pub before being converted into the restaurant which still retains many of the original features. Tartine are committed to selecting ingredients that are both local and seasonal and to the creation of dishes that are refined, yet simple and full of flavour. Why not take a tour of the Old Bushmills Distillery while you’re in the village?

5. Amici Ristorante, Portstewart

Situated on the water’s edge, Amici uses only the best of local ingredients to produce a rustic, homely and authentic Italian menu. They use a charcoal oven to cook all of their meat, fish and poultry, giving them a subtle smokey flavour. All of their pizzas are lovingly crafted from homemade dough, kneaded by hand and cooked at 800°F in the wood burning pizza oven.

6. Mary McBrides’s, Cushendun

Mary McBride's was once one of the smallest bars in Ireland. Mary's is full of character, history and has many interesting stories and the bar serves hearty and traditional meals that your dad will thank you for! Make sure and leave room for one of their gorgeous homemade desserts; cheesecakes, apple pie, lemon meringue and many more are on the menu.

7. The Point Bar, Magilligan

A long-standing favourite among locals, this atmospheric restaurant overlooks Lough Foyle over to Greencastle, County Donegal and there’s a sandy beach right on the doorstep which is perfect for walking off your meal and taking in the fresh sea air. Be sure to try the Seafood Chowder, best served with a pint of the black stuff!

8. The Water Margin, Coleraine

Situated right on the banks of the River Bann, this beautiful Asian restaurant is ideal for Dad’s who are a little more experimental with their tastes! Traditionally decorated, and serving up the finest Eastern cuisine, The Water Margin has been recognised among locals and visitors alike as one of the finest places to eat in the heart of Coleraine.

9. The Fullerton Arms, Ballintoy

This guesthouse, bar and restaurant, where old meets new, is a listed building and was given a new lease of life in recent years with fresh decor, menus and casual yet friendly table service. The bar offers an expansive selection of Bushmills whiskeys, craft beers and gins, and Guinness flows daily, with some customers even having the opportunity to pour their own pints.

10. The Belltower at The Dark Hedges Estate, Ballymoney

Is your dad a major GoT fan? This is the perfect place to take your dad out for Father’s Day if he is still pining after the penultimate series! Situated close to the iconic avenue of beech trees, used as the filming location for the King’s Road Landing in HBO’s epic drama series, The Belltower at The Dark Hedges Estate is home to the 7th Game of Thrones Door and is to the ever so scenic Gracehill golf course.
