About

The Mc Donnell Trail Centre will bring alive and enhance your trip along one of the great road journeys of the world, helping you understand the history of the castles, monuments and rugged coastline of the Causeway Coast. We will take you back to the 16th century when the Causeway Coast was ruled by Sorley Boy Mc Donnell, one of the great Mc Donnell chieftains.

View our interpretive centre and understand the importance of the Castles strategically located along the North Coast also highlighting the Mc Donnell’s strong connections with Scotland.

While enjoying tea and scones listen to our unique audio-visual presentation and hear the epic life story of this heroic warrior who successfully defended the Causeway Coast from all attacking forces and invaders.

Take our bus trip up the hill above the centre, view the site and listen to the story of one of Sorley’s epic battles.

Look out over panoramic views of five counties where Sorley’s campaigns took place.

Discover our pre-plantation links with Scotland from the time of St. Patrick.

Find out how the people from the ancient kingdom of Dalriada on the Causeway Coast initially settled Scotland and gave it its name.

Based at the Causeway Coast Discovery Center.
