About

The McDonnell Trail is a self-guided tour that begins at the Causeway Coast Discovery Centre, site of a famous battle and victory for their great chieftain Sorley boy Mc Donnell.

Over tea and scones we’ll prime you with our AV presentation to help you follow the Mc Donnell clan’s epic sagas. Hear how they held the Causeway Coast by guile as much as by force. All the way from Dunluce Castle to Carrickfergus Castle, Sorley Boy McDonnell left his mark.

Then leaving the centre you will follow our map and make your way along this famous coastline discovering the true stories of heroism and heartbreak.

Experiencing these places and their tales, you will truly get to know the real Causeway Coast. Discover what made this area famous in Spain in the 15th century and what really happened at Dunluce.
