About

The starting point for this walk is Portrush Harbour.

From the harbour, continue up the steps past the restaurants and around Ramore Head. The route continues past Portandubh Harbour and The Coastal Zone and Nature Reserve. Proceed to East Strand, passing the former salmon fishery at Porteen and the Arcadia.

Set out along the beach, in the shadows of the world famous Royal Portrush Golf Course, following the sand for over 2km to reach the parking area at White Rocks Coastal Park. This area derives its name from the striking limestone cliffs that line the back of the beach. Follow the route markers along the cliff path, culminating in a viewpoint perched on the seaward side of the main coast road. Having taken in the spectacular panoramic coastal views, continue towards Dunluce Castle and onto Portballintrae.

On reaching the B145 junction turn left into Bayhead Road and descend into the village of Portballintrae, keeping the Giant’s Causeway in view on the horizon. Continue round the bay past the harbour to the main seafront car park. Follow the coastal path towards the footbridge known locally as the Threequarter Footbridge, but before reaching the bridge, take the path to the right and continue straight through the car park of Bushfoot Golf Club and follow the path to reach the Giant's Causeway and Bushmills Railway. Turn right and follow the path along the railway line to the Bushmills Station. Turn left onto Ballaghmore Road and left again onto Dunluce Road to continue into Bushmills.
