About
The Yarn is thrilled to welcome Lemoncello to Yarn for an evening of musical storytelling that's both timeless and entirely their own.
Musical duo, Laura Quirke and Claire Kinsella, charm audiences into a world of intimate observations and uncomfortable questions with irresistible chemistry, charisma, and humour. "Why are all the good men, too old, taken, or dead?"
The rare alchemy of the duo's voices together cuts through a minimal, dramatic soundscape, coloured by the warmth and grit of Kinsella's cello and distinctly underpinned by Quirke's cyclical, trance-like guitar playing. While embedded in Irish and Folk roots, Lemoncello's sound embraces the freedom to carve out its own song structures, entwined with a love of off-kilter Indie Pop, Jazz extemporisation, and Romantic and Contemporary Classical music.
A vital voice in Ireland's thriving alternative folk scene, Lemoncello have been nominated for Best Folk Song and Best Emerging Folk Act at the RTÉ Radio 1 Folk Awards, and have opened for and collaborated with artists including Lisa O'Neill, Sam Amidon, Glen Hansard, Cormac Begley and Joshua Burnside.
Their spellbinding performances have taken them to stages across Ireland and abroad, including Vicar Street, The Irish Arts Centre NYC, The National Concert Hall, and CCI Paris.
"They write like Wet Leg and sing like Laura Marling." — Joshua Burnside
"Every song is a banger, and every song sounds authentic and true." — GemsOnVHS
Supporting Act: Andrew Toman
Andrew has been an established session musician for over a decade and has recently been embracing a different approach to the guitar. Self-composed songs and performance.
Drawing on influences such as Marc Ribot, Paul Brady, Martyn Heyne, John Martyn, and Roland Dyens, Andrew's compositions reflect not only his interest in the guitar but also in the nature of compositional fluidity and the challenge this presents for the performer/composer.
