The Brass Goat is a little different.
Tucked away on the Glenariff Road, where the Glens of Antrim meet the coast, it's a place for slow mornings, wild adventures and cosy evenings. If you're looking for the cheapest place to stay, you're probably wonderfully lost.
It's an upside-down house, carved into the hillside so the living space sits at the top with the full aspect of the glen. Open-plan living and dining upstairs, opening onto a large balcony; the bedrooms are below, each with French doors onto the deck.
It sleeps five — two super-king rooms and a single that doubles as an office with fast broadband — with two and a half bathrooms, private parking and a large outdoor space for sitting out and cooking. The interior is our own: designed and hand-crafted rather than bought in, shaped by two decades in film and television.
Glenariff Forest Park is five minutes up the glen and the sea four minutes down. Ballycastle and the Rathlin ferry are thirty minutes, the Dark Hedges thirty-five, Carrick-a-Rede forty and the Giant's Causeway fifty, so the whole Causeway Coast sits inside an hour. Eight golf courses lie within an hour and a quarter, including Royal Portrush.
Guests who would like to can leave a little extra behind, which goes towards gifting a night here to someone who needs one.
