Kintra Boat Tours sails all year round from Ballycastle along the Causeway Coast and Rathlin Island, one of Ireland's most spectacular wildlife habitats with breath taking scenery.
Kintra is a modern purpose built passenger boat for sightseeing tours and is licenced by the Maritime and Coastguard Agency for 55 passengers.
Kintra is headed up by owner, boat master and skipper Charles Stewart. A qualified marine expert with over 20 years’ experience in Irish waters, Charles is an expert mammal observer and keen bird watcher. Supported by environmental scientist, Dawn Hynes and an extensive team of skippers, local history buffs, wildlife experts and even a zoologist the Kintra crew are well prepared to answer all your questions.
Moored in the seaside town of Ballycastle in county Antrim on the north coast of Ireland, the Kintra catamarans are purpose built to ensure 360 degree views with the ability to get up close to the rugged cliff faces to provide the best possible experience. Set sail for the northernmost point in Ireland, through a UNESCO heritage area and home to three historic lighthouses including the unique “upside down” Rathlin West Light. Stimulate your senses with the sights, smells and sounds of the coast as the towering lighthouses guide your way. The Causeway Coast and Rathlin island surrounding seas are an internationally important wildlife reserve. During the spring breeding season over 100,000 pairs of puffins, guillemots, razorbills, eider ducks, kittiwakes, fulmars, shags, cormorants, Arctic and common terns - plus more - make the cliffs their temporary home. Gannets are regular visitors to feed in the rich seas along the Causeway Coast.
Throughout the year hundreds of grey and common seals can be seen basking on the rocks.
Cetacean sightings are frequent too with good sightings of harbour porpoise, bottlenose dolphins, common dolphin, Risso dolphin, Minke whale and basking sharks in late summer.
